AVIDduo is a flute and saxophone ensemble committed to the performance and creation of contemporary music by living composers. Members Jeffery Kyle Hutchins and Brittany Primavera have performed together around the world, giving recitals in Asia, Europe, and across North America. Recent engagements include the Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium, the North American Saxophone Alliance Conference as well as international tours in Ostrava, Czech Republic and Seoul, South Korea. As advocates of new music, AVIDduo has added over a dozen pieces to the flute and saxophone repertoire through actively commissioning composers to write for their instrumentation. Their debut album Interactions was released in February 2014 and contains original works for flute and saxophone by American, Australian, and Czech composers. Dedicated to educating and promoting contemporary music to younger audiences, AVIDduo routinely curates educational programs that include performances and presentations in local schools, universities, and community centers. Highlights include serving on the faculty of the 2013 Jae Young Summer Camp (Seoul, South Korea), and last season presenting a tour of more that thirty presentations on contemporary music in Dallas public schools sponsored by Music-1st. They have lectured and taught at Northeastern State University, Luther College, Coe College, Millersville College, and Lafayette College. Primavera is currently pursuing graduate studies at University of North Texas; Hutchins is Adjunct Faculty at the University of Northern Iowa and Instructor of Record at the University of Minnesota where he is completing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree.
